Union Coordination Committee

Large A Union Coordination Committee will be formed through government Gazette Notification. It aims establishing linkage and coordination among UP, government/NGO extension workers at union level and Village Committees. Meeting will be held once in every month with the participation of UP functionaries, field workers of government departments and NGOs, and representatives of the VCs. In UCCM, government and NGO field workers report the progress of their programs and formulate advance work schedule of the following month. All the participants in the UCCM discuss NBD's activities and performance. Similarly, the participants will discuss issues which VC representatives present as a report of the VCMs the gist of the discussion at the VCM.
Rural development programs in villages will be implemented effectively under such collaboration in the UCCM. Since union is the central point of rural development, villagers can have access to various services directly from UP representatives and government/NGO extension workers union through their presence in the union.
Formulation of UCC

UCC must be published through government Gazette Notification with the following members:

  Union Coordination Meeting  
Members of UCC will get together in a meeting at least once in every month. Fifty percent of the total members should the quorum. If the quorum is not formed, the meeting will be postponed and should be held within seven days. UDO will record the discussions of UCCM in a form of resolution and inform among all concerned after being signed by the chairman. The VC representatives should present the discussions of the VCM. On the basis of their presentation, UCC members will discuss and try to solve the problems by using their own resources. If necessary, they will forward the proposals together with the meeting resolution to upazila for assistance. Besides this, government and NGO field workers will report their ongoing programs and place advance work schedule of the next month. Also, they will finalize their schedule of attending VCM through discussion with VC representatives. In other words, UCCM will coordinate the work plan related to rural development and monitor its progress .
Scope of work of UCC

•  To review the development activities of government departments and NGOs at union level.

•  To ensure measures for optimum utilization of all resources, services and grants allocated for the union.

•  To promote communication and coordination between local people and representatives of various institutions involved in rural development for adopting development programs.

•  To maintain liaison with the existing Upazila Development Coordination Committee and representatives of all government departments and NGOs working in upazila level.

•  To discuss about the development programs at local level.

•  To play a supportive role in creating an overall favourable environment in the villages for organizing and uniting villagers.

•  UCC will include local NGO representatives as UCC members on the basis of local NGO list collected at union and nominated by Upazila Nirbahi Officer.

•  UCC, if necessary, can invite representatives of any development organizations to participate in the meeting.
